Springing forward for a Rockies day

I left the Springs and headed to Denver to meet up with inactive OBCer Walker Guthrie.  Walker showed me the town.
First stop was the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.  My lacrosse tryout did not result in an offer.  I will continue the job hunt.

  Outside Coors Field

Decent stadium, but nothing stood out.  Gets a very average grade.  Best part of the day was a card shop called Jordans.  Picked up some nice stuff, including a Colorado Rockie HOCKEY set I was not familiar with and a 1951 Topps Team card!  Big thank you to Walker for taking me around for the day.

  1. "...Best part of the day..."

Are you kidding me? I think that would be the biggest understatement of the day. Mike spent nearly two hours perusing Jordan's stacks of odd ball, ancient stuff that, unbelievably to me, were among Mike's wants, and he spent all that time just looking at his wants on-line. We didn't even have the fabled brief case! I wish I could post some photos. I have a couple really good ones of Jordan and Mike, doing their "business." I'll say this, Mr. Rich gets pretty serious when he is looking over a stack of cards that are on his wants! He really gets down to it when he is shopping, and I have photographic proof! (...your copies will be "in the mail," Mike.)

For those of you who have never been, Jordan's Sportscards is one of the single most unique antique and collectables shops I have ever been in. A tiny little store hidden away in an aging building near the bowels of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Jordan has more vintage and classic inventory than most any other retail card store I've been in. He doesn't really even stock much of today's UV. I love going in there; but I have to stay out, or I would do like Rich did, spend hours and hours and dollars and dollars.

Just in case, if it's legal to do so here, I'll shamelessly plug:
    Jordan's Sportcards & Collectables
    7192 W 44th Ave
    Wheat Ridge CO 80033
    303 561-1575

Give Jordan a call if you need anything. He is definitely an OBC kind of a dealer if there ever is one. As a testament to his reputable business, he has been in the same location in Wheat Ridge for over 28 years.

  3. Walker: I too have witnessed Mike rummaging through stacks of old cardboard. It's a thing of beauty!

  4. Yup, yup, I've heard a few stories and now I have the proof! ...and like I said, I can only imagine how much longer we might have been in the store if the brief case had been along.

I will have to get access to the "photo server" and post a few for all to see!
