Fresno

On Friday, I drove to Fresno to spend the day with OBCer Randy Welk.  I had never met Randy in person before, just via e-mail and a phone call or 2.  When I arrived we spent a couple hours chatting, and then went to a sports bar (Joe's Steakhouse and Grill Pub) I had found on line that Randy had never heard of.
It was a 1/2 block from the Fresno Grizzlie ballpark and had delicious burgers.  Randy knows the announcer for the Grizz and he arranged great seats right behind the plate for us.

It was a beautiful nite at the ballpark, although sparsely attended.  This was my first minor league game on the trip.  As is customary for minor league games they had all sorts of promotions and it was Farmers Nite at the park.  A few giveaways.
I had more bite than the Grizz offense.
Fresno has a similar problem to the Denver Broncos.  The stadium name sponsor (Sports Authority in Denver) is bankrupt and liquidating.
My understanding is Chukchansi was a casino that went out of business over a year ago.
Lots of fireworks on this trip.  Post Grizz game.
Back at Randy's we were up chatting until 1:45 am.  I had to drive to Oak Park, CA (outside LA) the next morning for the Dodgers late afternoon game.  The visit with Randy was way too short, but it was great meeting him and a thanks for giving me a bed for the nite.

    1. Mike, next time you are at a science museum, see if they have a lab of some sort to test that OBC baseball cap of yours. It looks infected.

  2. Is Mike the one with the bare head or the bear head?
